I think I really surprised myself when I started making clothes, mainly because the major love of my life has always been photography, not fashion at all. I'm still trying to avoid the words "fashion designer" as much as I can and prefer "clothing design". Cloth is such a beautiful word, don't you think?
It's not really surprising then, I guess, that my designs are mostly inspired by photos. Here's what is shaping my work right now:

In other news, I'm in the process of setting up my etsy shop right here. The main difference between the shops is that on bigcartel my prices are in australian dollars, while on etsy it's US dollars, as you know.

You know, I have said this before. but I love your photographs. I have a question for you; being a fairly new photographer, I am curious as to how you get that really beautiful, kind of filmy look to your photos. I know a huge factor is that you are ingenious at taking neutral colors and grouping them, so the photograph has a certain ethereal 'feel' just from the use of the colors and textures. But do you use a computer process to enhance that look? The only other place I have seen that is on some of the polaroid photography that some photographers are into right now. My photos definitely user very bright colors and I can really work with vivid color but the more subtle treatment absolutely escapes me. Not sure what I am doing wrong or not doing!!
I have the same problem regarding what to call myself, especially when people ask me what I do. I can't really say 'jewellery designer' because that doesn't really convey my wrist cuffs, and they're my mainstay. I don't like saying I'm a textile artist, because even though it sounds lovely it doesn't bring up jewellery visions...so right now I contend with saying 'I'm a salvage artist currently focusing on clothing and jewellery...'
Oh, I think "I'm a salvage artist" sounds really beautiful... I love your cuffs and brooches... they are so unique.
This image is beautiful.
